US Senate Gives Final OK to Ban Internet Taxes

The U.S. Senate today passed legislation placing a permanent ban on states' taxing Internet access, sending the measure to President Obama for signing into law. Richard Cowan reports in Reuters: "By a vote of 75-20, the Senate gave final approval to a bill toughening enforcement of U.S. duties on foreign goods, which contains the permanent extension of the 'Internet Tax Freedom Act.'" Until now, states that exercised Internet access taxes were allowed to continue however under the approved bill, those states will have till summer of 2020 to phase out their taxes.
